The Coronation of Ra, 2025*
£7,000.00
In an effort to minimise the negative environmental impact of art production, this piece is composed almost entirely of paint that has been salvaged from post-consumer sources, predominantly municipal waste disposal facilities. In other words, it is made from paint that has been thrown away. By diverting these perfectly viable paints from landfill their future is transformed from harmful to harmonious, and reduces production and consumption of virgin materials. The phosphorescent image, composed of strontum aluminate, is depicts the sculpture of Adonis carved in 1831 by the Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. It is currently located in the Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen, Denmark
