The Necessity of Division, 2025*

£7,000.00

The phosphorescent image, composed of strontum aluminate, is a detail of The Bather (1915) by Albert Toft, which is in London’s Victoria & Albert Museum, on loan from the Tate.

In an effort to minimise the negative environmental impact of art production, this piece is composed almost entirely of paint that has been salvaged from post-consumer sources, predominantly municipal waste disposal facilities. In other words, it is made from paint that has been thrown away. By diverting these perfectly viable paints from landfill their future is transformed from harmful to harmonious, and reduces production and consumption of virgin materials.

10% of sales proceeds are donated to Client Earth or an approved environmental charity of your choice.

Due to the dimensions and weight of this painting, it is excluded from free shipping associated with my smaller pieces. Contact me directly for a to arrange transport. For affordable, professional transport of artworks within the UK, I recommend Aardvark Art Services.
