The First Among Equals, 2023

In an effort to minimise the negative environmental impact of art production, this piece is composed entirely of paint that has been salvaged from post-consumer sources, predominantly municipal waste disposal facilities. In other words, it is made from paint that has been thrown away. By diverting these perfectly viable paints from landfill, their future is transformed from harmful to harmonious, and reduces production and consumption of virgin materials.
