The Urban Target, 2018

£2,500.00

This piece pays homage to the layers of colour, images, symbols and patterns that adorn many urban surfaces. Some are sanctioned and some opportunistic. Others are coincidental. Each contribution is a visual record of a creative yet destructive history, and of the moments they occurred. A pristine surface is adorned with a logo, which is then partly obscured by a graffiti tag, which is painted over. Weathering re-exposes it, and embellishes with rust, salts and oxidation. It explores the collaborative interplay between mankind and nature, and how of these are mediated by time and opportunity to create a new beauty.
